Food Film Festival Wageningen

Will you be in or around Wageningen this Wednesday? If so, you should definitely pay a visit to the Food Film Festival. As part of the organisation committee, I’m really excited about the whole thing. So let me tell you why you should come!

Basically, the Food Film Festival is all about what it says. It’s food, and a film and all in a cosy festival setting. But don’t be fooled, there are lots of things going on!

The market is probably the most visible and accessible part. It has stalls that sell local produce, seeds and all other food-related things. There will also be two very nice food trucks, selling delicious meals for only a small amount of money. One of them is the SateBoss, for all meat-lovers among us. The other is a big favourite of mine, called “Buskruid”. It’s an adorable red van, selling delicious soups and salads. All real, vegetarian, just goody food. So I know where I will be eating!

Apart from the market, the festival will offer several workshops. It might be good to mention the theme of the festival is “seed”, so we planned all kinds of different ways to look at seeds. You can make your own energy bars and seed bombs, you can go to a beer tasting, or learn all about micro greens if that is more your style. For those last two you will have to get a (paid) ticket at the website.

And then there is still the film part of the festival. The film will be “Seeds of Time”, about the role of seeds in our battle against food shortages caused by global warming. It really is a film that will make you rethink our food habits. And to express and illustrate those thoughts, there will be a talk show after the showing of the film. Experts in agriculture, business and philosophy will all come together to talk about the problems posed in the film. I think it will be very interesting to hear the different sides of the story.

The film and talk show are open to everyone, but you have to get a free ticket in advance. You can do that through the website.

The whole thing will start at four pm at the grounds around the Orion building on the campus of the Wageningen University. The market will be there all the time, open to everyone. Workshops will be given throughout the afternoon and the film will start at seven. See the entire schedule below.

I hope to see you all there!

Hey wat leuk dat je meehelpt het FFF in Wageningen te organiseren! Dit heb ik afgelopen juni in Groningen gedaan, veel succes en plezier! Zit je nu dan ook toevallig bij de YFM Wageningen?
