Below, you will find my recipe for a basic banana oatmeal, plus some options for variations. Once you master this, nothing can stop you from experimenting with all kinds of crazy ingredients!
Basic Banana Oatmeal:
(as I mentioned before, I rarely work with exact measurements, but I tried my best for you this time!)
120 ml milk of choice (or a bit more)
30 – 40 grams of oats (I usually use a mixture of old fashioned rolled oats and quick oats)
A pinch of salt
Mash the banana with a fork. You want it to become a bit mushy, but it’s ok to leave some chunks in. Add the milk and whisk a bit.
Put the oats in a small saucepan and pour the banana-milk mixture on top. Stir well and put on the stove. Heat till it starts bubbling slightly, then turn down the heat and let simmer for about five minutes. Stir occasionally.
When almost all the liquid is absorbed, add salt. If the oatmeal has the right consistency, pour it in a bowl and add another splash of milk.
Enjoy your breakfast!
As promised, some variation ideas:
(I added chai spices and a bit of maple syrup to the oatmeal in the pictures)
You can try adding spices, for example apple pie spices, chai tea spices or any other spice you think will be nice.
For an extra filling breakfast, add a spoon of peanut butter. (Or any other nut butter)
And of course, all kinds of fruits can be added!
