Last week, temperatures finally dropped below zero in the Netherlands. There even was snow in some parts of the country! We didn’t get that, but we did have a beautiful frozen world. With the horses all furry, it was so cosy and wintery at the yard! And with the gorgeous new sweater and socks my mum has knit for me, I won’t even be bothered by the cold.
Oh, how I love those two horses! My lovely, fluffy sweethearts! And what a pair they make, Bindy small, perky and fearless and Noortje beautiful, timid and gracious. I keep being amazed that even though Noortje is twice her size, Bindy is the one calling the shots. In the end, though, they are the best of friends and will be peacefully munching hay together.
Noortje is now really growing up. From the slender young foal she once was, she is now turning into a beautiful strong horse. My black beauty. My baby girl. I’m so proud of her. I can hardly wait till I get back to her in the summer!
But that is not the only one I’m proud of. I would also like to turn some attention to my dear mum. Apart from working incredibly hard over the last months, she has also managed to knit a gorgeous sweater and some pretty socks for me in just a few weeks time.
The sweater is from a pattern of Churchmouse Yarns, and my mum adjusted it perfectly to my personal measurements. Because of some smart technical things in the pattern, the sweater has a lovely fit and it is extremely comforting to wear. The perfect thing to keep me warm through the cold days of Norwegian winter!
As for the socks, they are so very soft! And warm, and lovely. I had saved them to wear in Norway, though I could hardly wait. But now that I’m here I can finally enjoy their comfort and let them remind me of home at the same time.
Thank you, mum. For knitting me such a lovely sweater. And more in general for being such a talented and amazing creative person, and for just always being there. I wouldn’t know what I would do without you.
Do you love cuddling up in a warm, woollen sweater just as much as I do?
