Oh my. I’ve only just gotten back from Norway, and boom, it’s well over a 30 degrees Celsius in the Netherlands. Honestly, it is a bit much to handle. But these drinks at least make it easy to drink enough during the day.
Water with lemon/lime juice
Nothing more refreshing than a tall glass of water with a squeeze of fresh lemon. It works to hydrate your body, makes you feel refreshed, and contains some useful vitamins as well, perfect!
Home-made iced tea
You all know the over-sweet iced tea you can buy in the shop. But all that sugar really only makes you more thirsty. So a home-made version is much better. And actually tastes better too! You can use normal herbal tea, or buy special iced-tea-tea (for example at Dille&Kamille). Brew the tea, let it cool completely, add a few slices of lemon and store in the fridge. Yum!
Rice Milk (With Coconut)
I usually only use vegan milk for my breakfast and for baking things. But for rice milk I make an exception. Especially the versions with coconut are my favourite on summer days.
And let’s not forget about smoothies. There are so many options that I am not even going to begin writing them down. And that would take away all of the fun, too. The great thing about smoothies is that you can basically throw in any combination of fruits and milk/yoghurt you like, and see how it turns out. So, go ahead, try some things and find out your favourites. (One tip: adding a bit of banana often helps to make it sweet and nice in texture.)
Enjoy your drinks, and good luck with the hot weather everyone!
